Customer Reviews:
3 out of 5 stars Useful and comprehensive but lacking illustrations   August 30, 2009
Ady Miles (Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK)
Like most poker books this book is lacking in illustrations and is quite lengthy. However, it is useful and generally comprehensive. The chapter on EV (Expected Value) is particularly interesting

4 out of 5 stars Useful material   January 24, 2006

The book provides some usefull information, relevant to the texture of modern poker, especially in relation to online poker. The treatment of short-handed holdem was interesting. Not in my view the best book for a begginer, but a worthwhile addition to any players library.

3 out of 5 stars Worth having - but it's only about Limit HE   October 18, 2005

Written by a former derivatives trader turned pro player, this book aims to be a slightly more scientific book than most; certainly it's aimed at the 'thinking' poker player. Many examples are illustrated by comparisons in EV (expected value). I don't find this as user-friendly as the Harrington approach of percentages - and it's really only applicable to limit HE - but it's still interesting. There's some good slightly offbeat sections such as "The AQo Debate" and the prose style is pretty decent.

Overall worth having as an addition to your poker library but certainly not the first book to buy.

Finally worth pointing out that nowhere in the synopsis here on Amazon are you told that this book is exclusively about limit hold em.
