3 out of 5 stars Not intuitive to use...   August 5, 2006

I've tried a few of these handheld poker games now; this was my 4th. One of its key features is that you can have more than one person playing, with AI players joining in too. So for instance you and a friend could each play; of course the risk here is that whilst taking their turn your sneaky friend could take a peek at your cards. To stop them doing that, your cards remain covered until you hold down a specific button, hence 8 player buttons below the LCD screen.

Whilst this multiplayer functionality is really interesting, I personally found it impinged on the single player mode, which is the main reason I got it. With a hodge-podge of small buttons everywhere, playing the game is not exactly intuitive and the buttons have not been laid out with very good ergonomics. Actions which should be quite simple, such as making a raise, seem unnesscarily complicated. Furthermore the black & white LCD screen is small and cluttered, making it hard to distinguish which suit a card is.

If you're looking for a poker game that absolutely has to have multiplayer capabilities, but if you're only after a single player experience I'd look elsewhere.

5 out of 5 stars Great way to develop your poker confidence!   October 24, 2005

I bought this cheap little gadget because i work away alot on my own and have been getting slowly addicted to Lads Poker Nights over the last few months.
I am really pleased with the playability and adaptability of the handheld gadget. More surprisingly (in the absence of a decent description on the website) loads of people can play, or you can play lots of Electronic opponents or a mixture of the 2.
It is not in colour, it needs 2 AAA batteries and could feel heavier and stronger, but other than that....for the money...worth every penny and more. Having trouble putting it down. Go Buy.
